Cheryl confirms the role of judge on the BBC show The Greatest Dancer | TV and radio | Showbiz and TV

The last singer appeared on The X Factor as a judge in 2015, but now she will be trying a different kind of judgment.

The 35-year-old will play the new BBC show One The Greatest Dancer as a dance captain.

He will be accompanied by actor Glee Matthew Morrison and Strictly Come Dancing Oti Mabuse.

Meanwhile, the contest will be hosted by Jordan Banjo along with former judge Strictly Alesha Dixon.

Cheryl said in a statement: "I am so excited to be part of The Greatest Dancer! I am looking for acts with real passion, which are going to push the boundaries and give the maximum, regardless of the challenges launched against them.

"From my dance background, I know that the dedication and the commitment to dance take, I do not see the time to start".

The mother-of-one also took Instagram to share the good news with the fans.

He told his followers to "stay tuned" for more updates posted on his social media.

Meanwhile, Matthew and Oti also talked about their involvement in the program.

Matthew said, "This is such a powerful moment for me, it's wonderful to keep bringing music and dancing to people's lives like we did with Glee." Dance is a safe haven that allows us to communicate where words can not.

"It is an expression of love and responsibility, guided by all the emotions that make us human.

"I love being exposed to people who pursue art and expression, and I can not wait to be a moving force for good on their journey.

"As a captain of the dance, my sincere hope is that I can raise and encourage all the dancers here to achieve their greatness".

Oti said: "I do not see the time to find a dancer who can stir up emotions from the audience, I know what it feels like on the other side and being judged and criticized for your dance or choreography.

"I can not wait to be able to find amazing new talent and help them unlock their greatest potential to become the best dancers they can be, and win the competition. I can not explain how enthusiastic about being part of this show. "

The auditions for the dance competition started today at the ICC in Birmingham, while the acts challenge each other to be crowned as The Greatest Dancer.

The series will be broadcast on television at some point in 2019.

The BBC described the show in a press release that reads: "From ballet to jazz, from hip hop to Bollywood, the show is open to everyone.

"Expect dramatic auditions, incredible challenges and extraordinary live performances as the dancers rock, swirl and sashay on stage every week in the hope of being named The Greatest Dancer."

The Greatest Dancer will air on BBC One in 2019.
