The look of Barry Allen in the fifth season of The flash is perhaps the most faithful of comics yet.
On Instagram, Grant Gustin, who plays the hero of speed on The CW, shared a poster with our first official look at the new Flash suit from the upcoming fifth season. Following the tradition of the series, the jumpsuit of last season is out, and the new look is rather flamboyant.
In particular, the chin strap, which has afflicted most versions of the show's character to date, has been eliminated and the Flash logo is smaller and slimmer. The dress also seems to be less intensely heavy as the other iterations of the dress, which gives it a more comfortable and cozy look, in my opinion. (And frankly, getting away from the skin is a good thing for Arrowverse.)
All in all, it looks more like a classic comic book superhero costume translated for living action, which I'm all for. I'm not entirely sure that Gustin has a jaw to remove the lack of a strap, but it's still a catchy look.
We will see this suit in action when The flash debut the fifth season on October 9th. Let me know what you think of the new look in the comments.
