Japanese TV cancels the BTS appearance over the A-bomb image of the shirt

TOKYO – A Japanese broadcaster canceled a performance by the Korean band BTS, reports that a member was wearing a T-shirt with an image of an atomic bomb attack alongside the celebration of Korea's liberation from Japan after World War II.

Japanese social media were filled with chatter about the T-shirt, allegedly worn by Jimin in one performance.

TV Asahi said it had talked to the band's record company trying to learn why he was wearing the T-shirt.

The Japanese broadcaster apologized to viewers who had been looking forward to the band's appearance, which was scheduled for Friday.

Company spokesman Shinya Matsuki declined further comment.

Universal Music said it will continue to support BTS, but confirmed that their appearance on the live music show "Music Station" was canceled.
