Katy Perry explodes Donald Trump for "a heartless response" to California fires

Katy Perry exploded US President Donald Trump's response to California fires as "absolutely heartless" after claiming they were the result of poor forest management.

The singer was indignant after the president threatened to withdraw federal funding from the forest service.

The blaze that is going through Southern California has forced the stars including Kim Kardashian West, Will Smith, Caitlyn Jenner and Denise Richards to leave their homes, while Lady Gaga and Guillermo Del Toro have talked about their fear that their properties will go into flames.

The president wrote on Twitter: "There is no reason for these huge, deadly and expensive forest fires in California except that forest management is so scarce.

"Billions of dollars are given each year, with so many lives lost, all because of poor forest management, remedy now, or no more Fed payments!"

Perry replied: "This is an absolutely heartless answer, not even the politics involved, only good American families lose their homes while tweeting, evacuating to shelters".

He has previously praised the firemen who are working to tackle the fire, writing: "There are a lot of unknowns tonight … but what we do know is that we are here for you and as a community we will help you in every way possible.

"Immense gratitude for all the brave first rescuers who put their lives in danger for so many families."
