This activity is part of the second edition of the Guatemala Romantica event, which also includes the arrival of 50 wedding planners and travel agents specializing in weddings and honeymoon destinations from the United States and Canada, from 12 to 19 August . they manage to attract more events in the country.

With the first edition of 2017, 32 planners were attracted and according to the Guatemalan Tourism Institute (Inguat) the results have already been seen because it is expected to close the year at 420 marriages, when the & # 39; last year there were 350. The forecast is US $ 11 million.

Last year a training course had already been offered at that event, but it was not yet a certification.

Kitzia Morales, co-founder of IADWP, explained that certified suppliers have the right to use the brand that recognizes them as such on their business cards or documentation they use and have explained that they have international recognition.

"This is an educational program that will strengthen the skills of the segment's human capital through workshops and seminars to update the main trends in this important tourism segment," said Inguat deputy director Juan Pablo Nieto.

It includes suppliers of organizing marriages in cultural monuments and natural landscapes, banqueting service, photography, decoration, floral arrangements, musicians and DJs, make-up artists, stylists and other services.

Wedding planners and travel agents specializing in weddings and honeymoon destinations from the United States and Canada will conduct an inspection of historic monuments, natural structures and hotels in Antigua Guatemala, in the capital, Petén and Atitlán next week.

On Thursday they will have work tables with suppliers to learn about the country's potential for this segment. The intention is to consider it an option to celebrate weddings and honeymoons, the official added.
