Gigi Hadid: I am very independent Fun

Gigi Hadid thinks that her family's poor health has made her "very independent".

The 23-year-old model claims to have become more resilient because of Bella's sister, her mother Yolanda and her brother Anwar fighting with Lyme disease, the energy-consuming infection that can be spread by infected ticks.

He explained: "Growing up, having three members of my sick family made me very independent, my mother could not drive or get out of bed someday, so I took my brother to school with me or I had lunch."

On the other hand, Gigi has also admitted to feeling feelings of "guilt" because of the health struggles of his family.

The catwalk star told Elle magazine: "I also felt a lot of guilt about being the only person in the family who did not understand what they were going through.

"It's difficult when your whole family is suffering and you do not know what to do."

Likewise, Gigi previously admitted that he could not really refer to the struggles of his mother, sister and brother.

The blonde beauty said he wanted to give "hope" to his family, even if he can not empathize with their daily fears.

Gigi – who, like her sister Bella, is one of the most popular models in the world – explained: "I am the only one of my brothers, my mother and my family who has not been affected by Lyme disease.

"It was really difficult for me because I'm the only one who does not really understand it.

"What was more difficult for me is just trying to find the way to be their hope and to be a force for them even with the disease that I can not fully understand because I could not."
