97 thousand Puerto Ricans moved to the United States

Approximately 97,000 people moved from the island to the United States in 2017, according to the United States Census Bureau, which today published the latest estimates of the investigation into the community of Puerto Rico.

These statistics relate to the information collected during the 2017 calendar year and include social, economic and housing characteristics for Puerto Rico and municipalities with a population of 65,000 or more.

While the study revealed that 20 thousand people did it in the opposite direction, resulting in a net migration flow of -77 thousand people.

Since the beginning of the study in 2005, this migration movement has been highest, both in absolute and in net terms.
