The registration in supermarkets of the date of minimum durability (MDD) remains unclear for consumers: 53% of them say they do not understand this mention. "It's time for consumers to trust their senses: the visual, the smell and the taste of the product," says Lucie Basch, a former agricultural engineer behind Too Good to Go.

A quarter of consumers (25%) never consume their products once the date has passed. And 26% even throw the product before the use-by date. According to Lucie Basch, an extra day of "life" products would save 170,000 kg of products a year.
