Beatrix von Storch: "Abortion is not a human right"

The advertising ban on abortions should not be abolished or weakened from the point of view of the deputy AFD parliamentary group leader in the Bundestag, Beatrix von Storch. Under current criminal law, abortions are unlawful and only under certain conditions impunity. "What is unlawful, may not be advertised," she told the New Osnabrück newspaper. "Abortion is not a human right," she continued. She wishes instead a "welcome culture for children".

Union and SPD have been arguing for a long time about paragraph 219a in the Criminal Code. This prohibits advertising for abortions. Opponents of the regulation argue that factual information for unwanted pregnant women would be prevented by the paragraph. The SPD therefore wants to reform or abolish it. In the Union, however, there are great reservations.
The reason for the debate is the conviction of a doctor from Giessen, who had pointed out on her website that she is aborting.
Caritas President Peter Neher also sees no need to loosen the advertising ban: "I am convinced that this paragraph does not preclude comprehensive information of pregnant women, which I also consider necessary." The central place to find out is pregnancy pregnancy counseling, which provides information on all relevant aspects. This also includes the information which doctors perform abortions. The head of the Catholic organization said further: "Abortions are wrong, and the Federal Constitutional Court has instructed the legislature to maintain this in the general consciousness."
The Federal Statistical Office registered 101,209 abortions last year.
