Blessed John Duns Scot (1265-1308)

Blessed John Duns Scot (1265-1308)

Born in Scotland – hence his nickname "Scot" – this Franciscan theologian is one of the three greatest scholastics of the Middle Ages at St. Thomas Aquinas and St. Bonaventure, even if he opposes it. He taught at the largest universities of that time: Cambridge, Oxford, Paris and Cologne. It was he who recognized Mary the benefit of an anticipated "salvation."
