Facilitators of the international panel for social progress (read The cross January 20, 2017, pages 22 and 23) wanted to respond to growing public concern: "Deregulation, economic crisis, social tensions, democratic destabilization, war: the period 1980-2030 will repeat the drama of 1890-1940, with the further possibility to be followed by environmental disasters that go through everything on their way in the second half of the century? "
Based on the collective worldwide work of some 260 social scientists, the authors of the Manifesto for social progress offer "A vision based on a new way of thinking and reforming our most important institutional pillars: markets, companies, social protection policies and mechanisms for democratic consultation". They deliver "A message of hope and a call to action". Website of the International Panel on Social Progress (IPSP): www.ipsp.org
