US President Donald Trump wants to make former US Ambassador to Canada, Kelly Knight Craft, the new US Ambassador to the United Nations. That announced Trump on twitter on. She has done an extraordinary job as a representative of the United States, Trump wrote as justification for his election. The personality must be confirmed by the Senate.

A new nomination had become necessary because the previous candidate Heather Nauert had unexpectedly withdrawn her application last Sunday. She explained that the two months since she had been nominated for her family had been a tough one. The opposition had lamented Nauert lack of foreign policy experience. She previously worked as a foreign spokeswoman and formerly as a presenter on the conservative television Fox News.

Former incumbent Nikki Haley had left the post at the end of the year for personal reasons.
