A former animator from the city of Courbevoie (Hauts-de-Seine) was sentenced Friday to 15 years in prison for rape of 15 children and rape of two of them, also at elementary schools where he worked at extracurricular times.

This verdict ended six days of painful debates in the Assizes of Hauts-de-Seine, in which parents and children faced the accused who recognized the rape for the first time.

"Do not forget that he has abused a multitude of victims, that they were extremely young, that they used their trust, their age and naivety," said general counsel, Aurélia Gandray, before they need 16 to 18 years of criminal imprisonment.

The accused, who sat down with his head for much of the trial, was accused of a series of sexual assaults and rape against boys between 6 and 9 years between 2011 and 2015.

Touch was accused of him, but also blowjobs and rapes, committed during babysitting and in the courtyard, toilets and sports halls of three schools of Courbevoie. He was also prosecuted for corruption of minors in two other children and possession of child pornography.

"I do not deny the family, the personal and professional difficulties of the defendant, it is his story and I respect him, but what I can not bear are these despicable, gruesome acts committed by a responsible adult," said the general counsel.

The former host, now 29, was adopted in India a few months ago by a wealthy family. He had considerable academic problems and eventually in 2012 proceeded to animation with the status of disabled employee. During the hearing, he confessed that he himself had become the victim of sexual abuse, particularly among Scouts.

"Sword of Damocles"

"The only victims are on the side of the civil parties", assured his lawyer, Sammy Jeanbart, from the beginning.

"Simply, you are judges, you have to integrate the complexity of the situations and you can not (…) simply refer to the real pain of the victims, the families, the obvious damage that has been committed by the suspect and the evacuation of what it is, what it can become. "

The lawyer recalled that his client had recognized almost all the facts and that he had already begun therapeutic work in prison, urging "the social benefit" of punishment: "It is not a service to society to completely destroy someone by detention, "he begged.

The day before the civil parties showed another important questioning of this lawsuit: two reports, in 2012 and 2013, made to the hierarchy of the host and whose justice was not known.

"The known and identified victims of the accused are numerous, but what is unbearable in this case is that there could have been less," said Nathalie Bucquet for the Innocence association at risk. "This hearing was complete and I believe you can judge a perpetrator today and tomorrow's officials."

On this part, an investigation against X for "non-termination" was opened in the fall of 2017, but has not yet been completed.

The common structure that the animator, the VAL, used, was therefore a civil party in the process. We understand and respect "the anger of the parents, assured their lawyer, Marc Borten, who regretted that his employees were" dirty "and that they were living with a" sword of Damocles "" over the head.

"The fear today, it must be on the side of the accused," concluded Marie Grimaud, who defended four children. The last "question one thing: that they are finally protected", that they "at least can grow serenely, at least until adulthood".
