Ismail Emelien, Emmanuel Macron's "special advisor", implicated in the Benalla affair, has announced his resignation in an interview with the magazine Point published Monday, a departure that will be effective end of March-early April.

He justified his resignation by the publication of a book he co-authored on progressivism, the head of state having banned his advisers to publish while they are stationed at the Elysee.

This very secret thirty-something, one of the closest collaborators of Emmanuel Macron, his chief strategist and his box of ideas, is the second member of the close guard of the president to leave the Elysee since the beginning of the year.

Before him, Sylvain Fort, director of communication and pen of the president, another pillar of the beginning of the "Macronie", announced at the beginning of January his departure "for personal reasons".

What role in the Benalla case?

Ismael Emelien found himself in the light following the outbreak of the Benalla affair. The Elysee confirmed at the end of July that the councilor had seen video surveillance tape that Alexandre Benalla had then obtained from police officers. According to several media, investigators question the role of Ismaël Emelien
in the transmission of videos.

"The Elysée had a doubt about the origin of this document, and the chief of staff on 20 July in the morning reported to the prosecutor in the context of Article 40 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, recounting the facts and enclosing the video document of which it has not been preserved copy ", affirmed the Elysee.
