Republicans get ground in fights to preserve their narrow senate majority

WASHINGTON – With the senate in recess until after the election day and justice Brett Kavanaugh at the Supreme Court, the GOP path to maintain its Senate majority has been firmer than it has been in months, officials of both parties now say.

The democratic hope of reversing the 51-49 majority of the GOP is dimmed, as recent public opinion polls that have led Republican candidates in North Dakota, Tennessee and Texas have shown.
