TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – The police of Tallahassee gave an update on Friday afternoon about the deadly shooting a week ago at Hot Yoga Tallahassee.
Two women were killed and five others were injured when an archer opened fire in the yoga studio during an evening class on Friday, November 2.
The victims were identified as 61-year-old Nancy Van Vessem and 21-year-old Maura Binkley.
The police say the gunman died of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
During the press conference on Friday, the police gave some new information about the shooter, the 40-year-old Scott Beierle.
The police say that Beierle arrived in Tallahassee on Halloween night. The police are still trying to follow Beierle's passes and determine what he was doing in the days leading up to the shooting.
We also learned that Beierle carried out the attack with a 9 mm pistol, of which the police say he has bought legally. Beierle, however, did not have a hidden gun license.
At the moment the police says that there is still no direct link between Beierle and the victims or the yoga studio.
According to TPD, researchers have conducted about 100 interviews last week, including all survivors and family members.
The research is under way.
