A truck overturned in the northwest of Atlanta and the high-voltage lines thrown down on Thursday afternoon, the authorities said.
The truck faltered along the lines, dropping onto James Parkway at Bolton Road, police spokeswoman Stephanie Brown told AJC.com.
She said the driver was conscious and taken to a nearby hospital. Atlanta Fire Rescue assisted in responding to the incident.
A Waffle House employee, Sebastian Mathis, helped the driver get out of the truck, an EMS employee told Channel 2 Action News.
Georgia Power spokesman John Craft told AJC.com that the lowered lines have lost power.
He said power has been restored to 80 percent of affected customers and they are working to restore power to around 200 remaining customers.
