2018 was a year of natural disasters on the Big Island of Hawaii, where residents went through floods, hurricanes and a volcanic eruption. Agriculture is an important part of the economy of the island and the harvest yields are far back for one of the main raw materials of the Big Island, coffee. Coffee growers on the Kona Coast report varying decreases in crop yields, some about 40 percent.
