CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) – The winners of the inhaugural art exhibition of the Almost Heaven in West Virginia have been announced and the exhibition will be on display in the Capitol until 9 August.
Best in show and first place in the middle class division went to Nathan Landers of Stonewall Jackson Middle School in Kanawha County.
Other first prizes went to Maddie Barker from Frankford Elementary in Greenbrier County and Garrett Cantrell from Herbert Hoover High in Kanawha County. Winners receive gift vouchers for art supplies.
The display contains 184 entries from 39 schools in 29 provinces.
The exhibition asked for postcard design, with selected art used by the West Virginia Tourism Office to invite travelers to visit the state.
The Ministry of Arts, Culture and History and Governor Jim Justice announced the winners on Friday.
