Luis Suarez says that Steven Gerrard intervened to prevent him from leaving Liverpool for the Arsenal in the summer of 2013.
Just 18 months after moving to Merseyside from the Ajax, Suarez tried to force a move in Arsenal after Liverpool failed in the Champions League.
Reportedly, the Arsenal has made an offer of £ 40,000.001 for Suarez on the condition that an offer exceeding £ 40m would activate a clause in the shipper's contract that would allow him to leave Anfield .
Liverpool remained resolute in its determination not to sell the Uruguayan international to Premier League rivals, and Suarez – who eventually made a big change in Barcelona in 2014 – says Gerrard convinced him to do not enter the Arsenal.
"We qualified for the UEFA Europa League but the season ended badly," Suarez told Otro.
"I'm going to go to Arsenal, forcing me to go, and Steven tells me I promise you that if you stay this year you will take off and go next year to Bayern, Barcelona, Real Madrid or whatever you want, but stay this year because you won't be better off at the Arsenal ".
"This was the last conversation I had with Gerrard at the time and I told my agent that I had made my decision and was staying.

"His words convinced me at that moment: they came from a person who took care of me, who wanted my well-being, who saw me suffer during training and saw me sad.
"They were words of a true captain who had an impact at that time and helped me a lot".
