Man Utd vs PSG: comparisons with Mbappe-Rashford are understandable - Solskjaer

Man Utd's boss believes that the confrontation between his young star and the PSG World Cup that wins forward is easy to do

The Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has compared Marcus Rashford to the sensational Paris Saint-Germain Kylian Mbappe as he greeted both players ahead of the looming Champions League draw.

All eyes will be on Rashford and Mbappe when United will greet the PSG at Old Trafford for the first leg of the clash of the last 16 on Tuesday.

Rashford is in hot shape since Solskjaer replaced Jose Mourinho in December, the 21-year-old scored six goals in 10 appearances in all competitions.

And Solskjaer – contract until the end of the season – believes that Rashford is United's answer to the 20-year-old winner of the PSG World Cup, Mbappe.

"Marcus will be a high quality player, I love working with him, I'm sure the PSG will look at Marcus the way we look at Mbappe – it's one of the main threats," said Solskjaer after Saturday's 3-0 Premier League win at Fulham minimum.

"Mbappe has had a fantastic rise to become a celebrity and has a fantastic smile on him, a great deal of enthusiasm and understandably there will be comparisons.

"I saw Mbappe live once and Marcus every single day: the Strikers do not really dominate football, but the two will have a great impression on football for the next 10 years and will really turn it on."

With Neymar already out due to injury and doubts about Edinson Cavani and Marco Verratti, Mbappe will take on much hope of the PSG in Manchester.

Speaking of the Champions League showdown, Solskjaer added: "Neymar is very, very good, our fans would love to see him – and players would like to have played against him.

"One of the things I remember most is playing at its best – [Zinedine] Zidane, Ronaldo, [Luis] Sounds cool, [Paolo] Maldini: you do not see the time to test yourself against the best.

"It's how we've been and I'm sure these guys would love to play against him, but we're playing a team that still has high quality players and we'll have to perform at their best."

The Old Trafford team came into the game after a 3-0 win over Fulham on Saturday, while PSG secured a 1-0 win against Bordeaux.
