It's a huge football weekend when Liverpool travels to Manchester United, while Chelsea and Manchester City meet in the Carabao Cup final.
Who will win the first silver of the season and who will come out on top in the eight Premier League games of the weekend? Paul Merson makes his predictions …
West Ham vs Fulham
22 February 2019, 19.00
Burnley vs Tottenham (Saturday, live on Sky Sports Premier League from 11.30)
Tottenham could return in the title race if he won this game and Liverpool did not beat Manchester United.
If Liverpool beats United, then I do not think the Spurs are there – I think there are too many points – but if they win this and Liverpool do not win, then they're in because they still have to play Liverpool.
I do not think Burnley will go down. They have enough know-how, they are well under way and they are hard to beat. However, I imagine the Spurs win this game.
PAUL PREDICES: 1-3 (12/1 with Sky Bet)
Burnley vs Tottenham
23 February 2019, 11:30
Bournemouth vs Wolves (Saturday 15:00)
Whenever Bournemouth stays in the Premier League, you have to say that they are doing great things for the club size and all that. The wolves are going really well at the moment, but I think Bournemouth will affect this game with the advantage of the team.
PAUL PREDICES: 2-1 (10/1 with Sky Bet)
Expect the score for Bournemouth vs Wolves with Sky Sports Super 6 on Wednesday for a chance to win £ 250,000
Newcastle vs Huddersfield (Saturday, 15:00)
This is an unmissable game for Newcastle.
They recently turned a corner, but they played games where they should not have won and achieved results. Now they have to show up and win the game, which is sometimes a lot harder. When you do not expect to win, you can try to pull a draw, but this could be a dangerous game for Newcastle.
But with the run Huddersfield played, I think Newcastle will win.
PAUL PREDICES: 2-0 (6/1 with Sky Bet)
Predict the score for Newcastle vs. Huddersfield with Sky Sports Super 6 this Wednesday for a chance to win £ 250,000
Leicester vs Crystal Palace (Saturday, 17.30)
Palace will score and Leicester will score goals, so I think it will be a fun draw.
I do not know what Claude Puel thought, leaving Jamie Vardy out against Tottenham. I know he said he's thinking about the future, but has anyone told him he'll be there for the next three years ?!
As a manager, you have a game: that's how it works. What if they were at the end of a 6-0 defeat by Tottenham? Play your best players when you have them and you're in a job. This is every manager, not just Puel.
Play with your best players and do not look too far for the future because there is always a future as a manager. These are results and you have to win the games. No manager can bet on something that will still be a manager in the same club in four years, I do not care who you are.
PAUL PREDICES: 2-2 (14/1 with Sky Bet)
Arsenal vs Southampton (Sunday, 23.05)
Southampton has put himself in a difficult position losing to Cardiff. They have a huge match against Fulham coming up and I do not think they get anything in the Emirates.
Arsenal beat minor teams at home, but I do not think they have a chance to get into the first four of this season.
They are not consistent enough and there will be results along the way they will slip, as they did in the Europa League at BATE Borisov, which is a run-of-the-mill team. They have those results in them and I would be shocked if they entered the top four.
PAUL PREDICES: 3-1 (11/1 with Sky Bet)
Manchester United v Liverpool (Sunday, live on Sky Sports Premier League from 1:00 pm)
I look when United was beaten by Paris Saint-Germain and I thought they were a million miles away; this is when you judge managers. When you win every week, it's a breeze, but it's when you're defeated, it's like rebounds. I thought they were brilliant in the FA Cup at Chelsea in the way they played.
If Liverpool gets something from this game, I think they have had a result. I'm not saying this because I think Man Utd is a better team, but I think the pendulum has fluctuated. You have a team that is very confident and a team very nervous and ripping opportunities. Watch the Liverpool game against Bayern Munich – two months ago, they would have scored two or three of these occasions.
I think United will have a go. They are not a team of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer who will sit. They will bring the game to Liverpool, and I think Liverpool's nerves will be too many.
PAUL PREDICES: 2-1 (10/1 with Sky Bet)
Man Utd vs Liverpool
24 February 2019, 2:00 pm
Chelsea vs Manchester City (final Carabao Cup, Sunday, live on Sky Sports Football from 15.30)
I would like to be able to do it at 15.30 on Sunday when I see the teams or at the start of football when I see how Chelsea will prepare. If they had set up as they did and played "Sarriball", I would be shocked if it had not been at least 3-0 in Manchester City.
Good managers change, this is what they do, do not go anywhere and play the same way, especially after losing 6-0 against the same team a few weeks ago!
Chelsea vs Man City
24 February 2019, 15:30
If they change the way they play, you never know in a cup final.
But look at City with the team that played Newport in the FA Cup. Pep Guardiola is ruthless. If they are 2-0 or 3-0 leading against Chelsea 25 minutes left, they will want to get four or five.
PAUL PREDICES: 0-3 (11/1 with Sky Bet)
