If the Uerdinger breaks after more than 21 years at 1 FC Kaiserslautern guest, many older fans will remember earlier duels.
Football third division club KFC will hold a guest appearance at 1. FC Kaiserslautern on Saturday after a break of more than 21 years, which evokes a lot of memories. Until now, there were 31 mandatory matches between both clubs (28x Bundesliga, 2x 2nd Bundesliga, 1x DFB-Pokal). From the point of view of Uerdinger, the balance consists of ten victories, four draws and 17 defeats.
The first meeting of both clubs was on November 22, 1975 in the Grotenburg-Kampfbahn and ended 2: 2. Twice the favorite guests took the lead through Roland Sandberg, the double goal scorer, but the Uerdinger made it well with Friedhelm Funkel and Peter Lübeke. The return match on May 29, 1976 in Kaiserslautern won the Uerdinger 2-1. That was the only success so far on the Betzenberg. After the break for the Palatine with a converted penalty from Hans-Dieter Diehl, Horst Riege and Friedhelm Funkel eliminated the game in favor of the 05er. However, the joy of this sensational victory was within bounds, because Uerdingen got up too early on the day from the Bundesliga, as the players who had previously won this competition theoretically won at the same time.
Despite the relegation, it would be a new game with the FCK in the same year and that in the DFB Cup. On December 17, 1976, the Uerdinger reached a 3-1 home victory on the Bundesliga side with three goals from the Swede Jan Mattsson for a big surprise.
In the 1980s there were many other clashes in the football league in the Bundesliga. While the Uerdinger in Krefeld usually came out on the square, they regularly came under the wheels in Kaiserslautern. The Uerdinger had the highest defeat there on May 29, 1985. Nobody was concerned about the 1-6 defeat at the time, as the team of coach Kalli Feldkamp won the DFB Cup three days earlier in Berlin and was still visibly hit by the celebrations.
The Uerdinger's last success over the Red Devils was a 3: 2 home win on September 19, 1989, which is almost exactly 29 years ago. Initially this game seemed to be a clear affair for the blue-red team, as a goal by Marcel Witeczek and a double by Jan Bartram made for a comfortable 3-0 lead at the break. However, immediately after the break, Stefan Kuntz scored two goals in just three minutes from Uerdingen to replace Pfalz, making the game even more exciting.
In the last eleven matches in the 90s, the Uerdinger remained unchecked. A particularly memorable meeting was in the Grotenburg on September 22, 1990, which ended 7: 3 for the FCK. In the meantime the Uerdinger came back to 3: 4 zoom. But the Palatine at that time played an incredibly good season and eventually even a sensational German champion.
Both clubs recently participated in the 2nd Bundesliga on Betzenberg on March 17, 1997. The game, which was broadcast as a match of Monday live by the German sports TV, the Lauterer himself could determine with 3: 1.
With Peter Black, Michael Schuhmacher, Friedhelm Funkel, Larus Gudmundsson, Wolfgang Funkel, Markus Kranz, Marcel Witeczek, Michael Lusch, Claus-Dieter Wollitz, Dimitrios Grammozis, Stefan Kuntz and Mohamadou Idrissou, there were numerous players at both clubs.
