LONDON (Reuters) – The body is recovered from the wreck of Emilyo Sala, the English Premier League forward and pilot David Abbotsson, lost on January 21 through the English Channel,, and appears to be the body of Sala.
The body was identified days after the wreck north of the island Jerseni was discovered.
"My family Sala and pilot David Abbotson were informed of this news," said the police statement. "We sympathize with them in this difficult time."
The statement said that the investigation into the circumstances of the death will continue.
The British Air Accident Investigation Division confirmed on Wednesday that the body had recovered but not if it had been identified.
The plane with the 28-year-old Argentine striker Sala to Wales from France, after signing Cardiff City contracts, disappeared from the radar screens while crossing the English Channel.
