Shortening the length of residence permits

The Italian Senate voted confidently on the government on this decree-law very controversially, the first step before a final vote in the Chamber of Deputies, expected at the end of November. The text replaces, in particular, humanitarian residence permits currently granted to 25% of asylum seekers and for a period of two years by several other permits, such as "Special protection", which lasts a year, or "Natural disaster in the country of origin", for a period of six months, among others.

It provides an emergency procedure to expel any expulsion "Dangerous". It is also reorganizing the reception system for asylum seekers, which amounted to 146,000 by the end of October and will be regrouped in large centers on the basis of savings measures. In the security component, the text generalizes the use of electrical pulse guns and facilitates the evacuation of occupied buildings.
